    Thanks for such an informative post....But here I would like to add on certain indicators.

    Quantification of sentinel events should be done and also be used as indicators.

    Apart from that collections at Health check up units should be separated from the OPD collections or should be viewed separately from the OPD collections.

    No. of cancelled bills also is an indicator of efficiency of billing staff.

  2. Abha, thanks for commenting ! Sentinel events is definitely an indicator for Clinical & Nursing Quality indicator. To add on furthur, Sentinel events are drilled down to specifc occurrences such as Patient Suicides, Maternal deaths, infants discharged to wrong family etc.

    Cancelled bills,or to be specific DENIED CLAIMS is particularly pertinent in third party payer health systems such as US. Its reflects billing/coding staff efficiency

    Hi Niladri.
    I really appreciate your effort, however want to drop some ideas.
    In clinical outcome indicators u may add VAP and Level II pressure ulcer.
    U may correlate ALOS in ICU and ' Return to ICU within 24hrs'. This could be a Quality as well as financial Indicators.
    I have doubt, Plz check the formula (numerator) of BOR.
    However, I elt u know, in case anything comes in my mind. Keep it UP

    A couple of points:
    1) It is probably time to transition from General ALOS to disease-specific ALOS, which is the trend now.(ALOS differs widely across the disease spectrum)
    2) Operating margin/Net Profit may be used in addition to EBIDTA in measuring financial performance.
